LSO’s 2024-2025 Concert Master: Geunyoung Kim

The Lapeer Symphony Orchestra has a concert master for 2024-2025!

In our previous post, we introduced James C. Schuster as our conductor for the 2024-2025 season. Now, we would like to introduce our new concert master, Geunyoung Kim!

Geunyoung Kim began her musical journey at the age of 4 with piano lessons and started playing the violin at 7. Growing up in a musical family in South Korea, she enjoyed performing with family and friends.

She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance from Dankook University in South Korea and continued her studies at Michigan State University, where she completed a Performance Certificate, a Master’s, and a Doctorate in Violin Performance under Professor I-Fu Wang's guidance.

Geunyoung Kim has performed with esteemed ensembles in Michigan, including the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra, and Jackson Symphony Orchestra.

She has a deep passion for community orchestras and has enjoyed performing with her mother who is an amateur cellist in South Korea. She loves the impact that community orchestra provides for local musicians and the beauty of people of all backgrounds coming together to make beautiful music.

Currently, Geunyoung is a violinist with the Midland Symphony Orchestra and is developing her career as a performer while teaching at St. Paul Catholic School and Spring Vale Christian School in Owosso, MI.

Please join us for our holiday concert on December 20th at 7pm at the Imlay City Performing Arts Center!
